Surgical treatment in cancer

The treatment of patients with cancer is multidisciplinary. The cooperation of many specialists is required. Adopting a therapeutic decisions and the selection of patients for optimal treatment depends on many factors – among other: the type of tumor, its stage, the general condition of the patient and consent to therapy. The role of the surgeon to treat patients with cancer in many cases is essential in other complementary activities of other specialties. Primary branch of oncological surgery is curative, radical surgery supplemented by elements of reconstructive surgery. Exploratory surgery, preventive surgery, reducing and palliative surgery complement surgery in cancer patients. The current rapid development of chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, the techniques used in radiation therapy and surgery can in certain cases to reduce the range of surgical procedures performed in cancer patients.
