The paper describes adipocytokines – biologically active substances produced by the adipose tissue, which affect the immune system. Adipocytokines include such substances as leptin, adiponectin, resistin, adipsin, visfatin, VASPIN, cartonectin, angiotensinogen, lipocalin 2, ANGPTL2 protein, TNF, IL-6, IL-18, CCL2 and SFRP5, that are characterized below.
